Launch Pts: Coldspring Train Station
Floatplan: Proceed to Constition Marsh Ranger Station from Coldspring Train Station - 4.5 miles.

Group size: 13 kayaks
Hazard/condition: threat rain and thunderstorm later in evening, access to paddle are dependent on tide(due to bridge clearance)
Highlight:
Watch out for low train bridge. Bridge at low tide have clearance of only 4 feet or less. Hazard of bruised head. Make 4.5 slow trek to end of Marsh, unable to locate Ranger Station, have lunch under small waterfall. Encounter outfitter group at waterfall, was inform that we have pass the Ranger Station a half mile back. Have lunch and back out of the narrow, and fallen trees litter channel to located Ranger Station tuck into little channel off the way we come before. Take a hike up to lookout with bench, Paula tell stories about her grandfather the Don. Wait till next low tide to get out of marsh. Trip back to Coldspring unevenful. Slight rain started to fall.
Thunderstorm arrived as we back up our kayak for the car trip back to Sebago Cabin.

Kayaking Trip Leader
Attending another Kayaking trip leader workshop. It was quite a hazzle to get to the club. I have to leave work at 5PM, get to my parents' place to pick up my car. It was pouring rain by the time I get o my parents'. I was half way on the highway when I notice that the passenger's mirror is not flip into position. I can't see the cars on the passenger side. I pulled into the gas station in the middle of the highway and flip the mirror out. It was really comming down when I try to merge back into traffic again. I thought I would never get back in. I don't understand how people can drive so fast in the down pour.
I did get to the club without any mishap thought. There are about 12 people there. I was not paying must attention. There are more restriction this summer then on the previous summers. We have to us the VHF to signal our whereabout, can take groups across the channel. I went across the shipping channel on my first trip out when I join, not we can't go that far anymore. If I want a challenge that mean going out along. I will have to do more solo kayaking rather then groups because its going to be a bummer.
I have to take class on rescue and practice my eskimo rescue.
I am not excited about this season for some reason, so many changes.

Weekend Summary

Sebago Club opener, same faces attended the meeting.
The weather is overcast with some instance of heavy rain. The fog started to flow in, visibility was limited. Several adventurous members went out in kayak but no official group was organized.
Festivities were held in the clubhouse. The old woodstove was sufficient to keep everyone warm. People as usual brought lot of salad, pasta salad, potatoe salad and several with I do no know since I did not try them.
Coldwater workshop started at 1pm. It was very informative. Even thought I have not kayak in coldwater yet, it nice to know what to expect and know the danger.
VHF and GPS workshop were somewhat disorganize, even thought Eric and his wife(?) was very helpful about the operation of VHF and it procedure. I went to purchase myself on from the internet for $129 +13 shipping for total of $145. GPS was cancel do to time.
We have the general meeting early, 2:30 Instead of schedule 4 PM. Phil, as usual run the meeting with theater efficiency. I announced my willingness to volunteer for OOD Coordination position. Have to get to work organizing the time slot and volunteers for every slot we have from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Wednesday and weekend. Meeting end by 3:30, call sister for pick up.

Wakeup late. Did not get to the club till 12:15. Phil and Pete are there already. Spend much of day moving garbage from pile in front of clubhouse to dumpster. Have an incident with Wheel barrel. Get hit on face with handle as it come down when I try to flip and dumped the garbage into dumpster. Was not as bad as I thought. Get just a bruise, with no injury to eye.
Left at 3:15 PM.
